Turning back to the outside world...
Elizabeth Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love (Drink, Man, Woman), and Eric Weiner's Geography of Bliss are essentially the same book, though Weiner -- while equally bubblegummy (not a bad thing when one's stuck in bed) -- escapes all chicklit epithets. Does Weiner garner more respect because of his "masculine" prose style, or because he reaches the same conclusions without the enraging levels of narcissism that infuse Gilbert's work? Discuss.
(Side conversation: do bloggers automatically lose the right to levy the charge of "narcissism" upon anyone?)
